Community-Based Tourism Development

Empowering Communities Through Tourism

Trove partners with destinations to develop, market, and sustain vibrant community-based tourism (CBT) ecosystems. We support local enterprises and government stakeholders through product mapping, capacity building, storytelling, and market linkage strategies. With a focus on authenticity and sustainability, our work helps ensure that tourism benefits both visitors and the communities they visit.

Trove's Approach
Developing Community-Based Tourism

Trove works hand-in-hand with communities and government agencies to design and strengthen CBT ecosystems through product mapping, stakeholder coordination, training programs, and the establishment of community tourism networks and governance structures. By building local capacity and supporting authentic, place-based experiences, we lay the groundwork for resilient, inclusive tourism development.

Marketing Community-Based Tourism

We help CBT enterprises and destinations reach the right audiences with the right stories. Through brand development, digital marketing, storytelling, and trade engagement, Trove connects community-driven experiences with global travelers. Our campaigns spotlight culture, heritage, and nature while building long-term visibility and demand for locally led tourism.

Strategy in Action: The Bahamas

Trove collaborated with local stakeholders in Andros, The Bahamas to build a sustainable eco-tourism brand from the ground up. The initiative included destination branding, marketing strategy, training for 120 local businesses, and the launch of a cluster association – laying the foundation for long-term, community-led tourism development.

Strategy in Action: Jamaica

In Jamaica, Trove supported the growth of CBT through a multifaceted national initiative. We delivered training to over 100 providers, developed messaging and content to build awareness, and positioned CBT as a cornerstone of Jamaica’s sustainable tourism strategy to empower communities while diversifying the tourism product.
